La Stalla Eyes September For Italian Market Opening Date

As previous reported, La Stalla — the popular family-style Italian restaurant in Newtown — is planning to expand its culinary offerings in town with the opening of a new Italian market on Sycamore Street.

For those of you wondering about the status of the project, it looks like it will be September when the new business opens its doors at the standalone building in the Promenade shopping center. "We are hoping for a September opening," La Stalla owners tell Patch.

Here's what customers can expect to see at the shop once it opens: Italian pastries, prepared foods for takeout, Italian breads, imported meats and cheeses, homemade meatballs and sausage, and a full line of Italian specialty grocery items.

"We also plan on doing catering and wine and cheese events at people's homes and businesses. And I'm sure we will be expanding those ideas based on customer requests and feedback," owner Marc Masso said.

The Promenade, located on Sycamore Street, is the new shopping center that houses Anthropologie.
