On the eve of the Women’s March, I had wanted to write to you about one of your recent votes that reflects the backward and reactionary ideology pertaining to women’s equality and freedom, but again, the news that our president may have committed a felony in instructing his personal lawyer to lie to Congress has again created what should be considered a true national emergency for those who love our democracy.
And since the lie that was encouraged relates, not to something trivial, but rather directly to the subject matter of the Mueller investigation; namely uncovering the ties of the Trump campaign to our Russian adversary, it is necessary for you to be reminded of how often the president’s behavior has supported the aims of our Russian adversary:
1. The asset in the White House has criticized our NATO allies and even has championed the removal of the United States from NATO, thereby weakening the alliance designed to keep Russia in check.

2. The asset in the White House has recently announced a sudden withdrawal of American troops from Syria, thereby paving the way for an extension of Russian hegemony in the Middle East
3. The asset in the White House had only reluctantly imposed sanctions on Russian oligarchs, but has recently lobbied for their removal, thus improving the economic health of the Russian regime.

4. The asset in the White House has consistently undermined with his voluminous un-American rhetoric the American institutions of the free press, the independent judiciary, the FBI, and the American intelligence agencies. In Helsinki, he even publicly chose to believe the word of Vladimir Putin over the facts of our intelligence agencies about Russian meddling in the 2016 election. An America with tarnished democratic institutions could only cause joy in the Kremlin.
5. The asset in the White House has engineered a shutdown of the United States Government (the longest in American history) which has weakened our border security, our air traffic systems, our Coast Guard, and many other important government services while creating economic havoc for over a million hardworking public servants and contractors. The vodka must be flowing freely in the Kremlin with each passing day of the Trump Shutdown.
6. The asset in the White House has never criticized Vladimir Putin, but has on the contrary has expressed praise for his “strong leadership” thereby adding to the world stature of our Russian adversary. Is “strong leadership” ordering the killing of journalists or the jailing of dissidents?
If the person you, your Republican Party, and Vladimir Putin helped elect to the Office of the Presidency has credibly been accused of a campaign finance felony and now of obstruction of justice, how long will it take for you to react to not only these crimes, but to the behavior of our president which is so clearly aligned with the aims of our most deadly adversary? When will you begin drafting articles of impeachment?
Or are you and your Vice-President so wedded to a misogynistic patriarchal ideology that denies women their freedom to make their own decisions about their reproductive health that you are willing to tolerate a criminal and a witting or unwitting Russian asset in the White House?
