Wrightstown Friends Nursery School Annual Auction Is April 21

Wrightstown Friends Nursery School will be in the community spotlight this month when they open their doors to their annual auction that features many products and services donated from local businesses and residents. Open to the public, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on everything from athletic club memberships to restaurant gift certificates and theater show tickets.

“We’ve been doing this event for 40 years and are so grateful to see residents and businesses take such an interest in supporting our children,” said Karen Bryk, co-director and a teacher at the school. The auction, which will take place on Saturday, April 21st from 5-8pm, is an annual event that raises funds for classroom resources for the children enrolled in the school.

With a focus on experiential learning, Wrightstown Friends encourages children to take a hands-on approach to learning. Claranne Merlo, co-director and teacher, loves to see children apply what they’ve learned to everyday experiences. “We believe passionately that an exceptional early childhood education makes an enormous impact on the futures of our children and community.”

Businesses and residents agree. This year the school has collected hundreds of different donations – not only from Bucks County, but as distant as Vermont! “We are very excited to offer items from all over the northeast for this year’s auction, including a long weekend stay in Vermont,” Bryk said. “It just reaffirms the significant role we all play in helping shape the educational learning experience for our children. They are our future.”

When the students aren’t taking field trips to local farms, public offices, or businesses, they are engaged in the classroom, in an environment that allows them to learn and grow in the Quaker values of simplicity, peacemaking, and a sense of community. Proceeds from the auction will go directly to supporting the school’s curriculum and providing tuition assistance to students who otherwise would be unable to attend the school.
