Local Organizations Host Breakfast With Santa

The event, which was attended by 90 children, was held at the Washington Crossing Inn.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, 90 deserving children brought their appetites and their Christmas wishes to the Washington Crossing Inn for the annual Breakfast With Santa event.

This year’s event was funded and/or hosted by volunteers from The Greater Newtown Exchange Club, The Upper Makefield Business Assn., The Newtown Business and Professional Assn., The Newtown Lions Club, Council Rock School Social Workers and Nurses and The Knights of Pythias. Breakfast for the children and 30 accompanying adults was graciously provided by the Washington Crossing Inn but what the children were really waiting for was the thrilling arrival of Santa, on a siren-blaring Upper Makefield Fire Department engine. Once Santa arrived, each child was treated to a session on the Jolly Elf’s lap and a gaily-wrapped Christmas present. The presents were donated by the community organizations and wrapped by age and gender so that each child received something they could call their own.

Besides furnishing presents and helping Santa distribute them, the community volunteers assisted with setup, food serving and cleanup. The volunteers were observed having as much fun as the children and went away with visions of happy youngsters dancing in their heads.

The Greater Newtown Exchange Club is a Bucks County service club dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and family services.
