Local Dancer Wins Scholarship to Joffrey Ballet

Jaida Ocasio-Parvaiz was selected as a scholarship winner to a summer dance intensive in New York City.

Local dancer Jaida Ocasio-Parvaiz, has received a scholarship to attend the world-renowned Joffrey Ballet’s Summer Intensive in New York City. Jaida’s compelling essay was chosen out of over 1000 entries from all over the country.

Jaida has been studying with The Pennsylvania School of the Performing Arts (PSPA) for over 4 years and performing with PSPA’s dance company under the direction of Mrs. Terri Lee. Jaida also attends the Creative and Performing Arts High School (CAPA) in Philadelphia.

As a selected scholarship winner, Jaida was awarded two weeks of the Joffrey’s Summer Intensive, all expenses paid. She hopes to attend the full five-week program with a focus on Musical Theater. Jaida and her parents are grateful for her director Mrs. Lee for helping her discover her love of musical theater and providing her with a professional training program at Bucks County’s conservatory, PSPA.
