Local Handyman Charged With Burglary, Theft

A local handyman is facing burglary and theft charges in Buckingham and Solebury, authorities said.

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — A local handyman is facing charges in connection with a burglary in Buckingham Township and thefts in Solebury Township, police said.

Patrick Schull, 51, of New Britain has been charged with burglary and related charges after police in Buckingham Township allege he stole a "large amount" of cash, jewelry and silver flatware from a home on Brandon Way late last month. Schull is also charged with similar thefts in Solebury Township.

Schull was arrested after the Brandon Way homeowner reported a burglary on Nov. 20. The victim noted no damage to the home, and entry into the house did not appear to be forced, police said. "Light ransacking" was observed and several items, including the cash, were found to be missing, police said.

Buckingham Township Police investigated and pursued "many leads," which led them to Schull after police learned the family had hired him as a handyman. Schull had a warrant for similar thefts in Solebury Township that were reported in April.

Schull was arrested for the theft from Solebury and he admitted to selling jewelry from Brandon Way, police said.

Authorities served search warrants on Schull's home and truck. Police believe some of the items that were recovered had been stolen.
