Local Travel Soccer Team Wins Big in Virginia
The Council Rock United Soccer Association Crushers were the champions for their age group in the Jefferson Cup Tournament.
The Council Rock United Soccer Association Crushers, a local U10 travel soccer team, were the champions for their age group in the highly-competitive Jefferson Cup Tournament last weekend in Virginia.
The team is made up of 9- and 10-year-old girls from Newtown, Holland, and Richboro.

At the championship game Sunday, the Crushers defeated the number-one ranked U10 team in Virginia, the Northwest Virginia Soccer Club Majestics. The final score was 2-1. Maiya Barker scored the first goal with a header off a corner kick from Erica Behr. Score at halftime was 1-0.
Rachael Senyk scored the second goal for the Crushers with a shot from outside the 18-yard mark. Goalkeeper Jessie Buten had nine saves in the championship game. She allowed just four goals in four games during the tournament, including one shutout.

The Crushers advanced to the finals with wins over the following teams: a 1-1 tie with Prince William Soccer Courage; a 1-0 win over FC Revolution Storm from the Reading area; and a 6-2 victory over the Soccer Association of Columbia Maryland United.
The tournament attracted 448 U9 to U18 division girls teams from across the East Coast and as far away as Georgia, Ohio, and Canada.
The Jefferson Cup Tournament was recently ranked the #1 youth tournament for boys and #3 youth soccer tournament for girls in the United States.
