A Love For Life Sending Five Dragon Boat Teams to Weekend Festival in Philly
The nonprofit organization is racing this weekend with the goal of raising awareness about pancreatic cancer.

Local residents have formed five dragon boat teams that will be racing this weekend to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer and money for pancreatic cancer research.
The team, A Love For Life, will compete in the Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival, which takes place this Saturday on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park.
All the money raised will go to a dedicated fund at the University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center. So far, more than $63,000 has been raised, and A Love For Life said it is hoping to raise a total of $100,000 by Valentine’s Day. The dragon boat race is one of many fundraisers held throughout the year.

A Love For Life President Christine Edmonds, who lost her husband Kevin and sister-in-law Nora to pancreatic cancer, said the team is dedicated to finding a cure. “Penn is at the forefront of research in the United States, and we are impressed by their dedication to this cause. They are searching for a solution to a difficult puzzle, and our team hopes to help them find the missing pieces. Our organization celebrates life and friendship and adventure while having a lot of fun along the way.”
This year’s sponsors of the A Love for Life team include Beneficial Bank, Doylestown Emergency Associates, Groundswell Design Group, Fast Big Dog Racing, Yogasphere, Healthcasts, Herspiegel Consulting and 50 companies and individuals.
