Man, 33, Identified As Victim Of Monday Swamp Road Crash

Authorities have identified the man killed in a Monday morning crash on Swamp Road in Newtown Township.

Authorities have identified the man killed in a Monday morning crash on Swamp Road in Newtown Township. Zafer Akar, 33, died in the single-vehicle crash.

The crash happened just south of Twining Bridge Road at approximately 11:05 a.m.

Police say Akar was driving a tri-axle dump truck loaded with crushed stone south on Swamp Road. The truck overturned, hitting a utility pole. Akar, the sole occupant of the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The downed pole caused power outages in the area and Swamp Road was closed until approximately 9:30 p.m. for a police investigation and utility repairs.
