Man Arrested On Assault Charges In Wrightstown: Newtown Township Crime Report

In other reports, police arrested three drivers for suspected DUI and seized suspected narcotics during a fourth traffic stop.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following arrests and incidents between Jan. 23 and 29:

January 23

  • A Wrightstown resident contacted police around 5:30 p.m. to report an incident of fraud. Someone opened a phone account in his name and purchased several devices. A police report was made to document the incident, and the phone company is investigating the incident.

  • At 9:30 a.m. police responded to a Newtown Township home for the report of a theft of service call from a cab company. As a result of the investigation, a summons was issued.
  • At approximately 8:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the 800 Block of Cherry Lane for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver refused to submit blood for chemical testing. Charges are pending.

January 25

  • At approximately 2 a.m. police were dispatched to a Wrightstown home for the report of an assault. As a result of an investigation, a man was arrested and charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, disorderly conduct, and harassment.

January 26

  • At approximately 11:45 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of an Acura SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Washington Crossing Road and Linton Hill Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

January 28

  • At approximately 11 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Jeep for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Buck Road and Mill Pond Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.

January 29

  • At approximately 11:25 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Dodge for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Richboro Road and Mill Pond Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
