Man Suspected of Burning Gravesite American Flags Arrested on Veterans Day

Police allege Anthony Davis Carter removed and burned dozens of gravesite American flags and decorations at two Bucks County cemeteries.

A man who police say burned dozens of gravesite American flags belonging to deceased Bucks County veterans was arraigned on Veterans Day.

Bensalem police on Tuesday announced the arrest of Anthony Davis Carter, 29, of Feasterville. Police allege that during at least five incidents last summer, Carter removed gravesite American flags, veteran flag holders and gravesite decorations at two Bucks County cemeteries, including Roosevelt Memorial Park and Rosedale Memorial Park in Bensalem.

Once removed, police said Carter placed the flags and decorations in a pile and burned them. Dozens of gravesite American flags and other gravesite decorations were destroyed and burned, according to police.

Carter has been charged with institutional vandalism, arson and related offenses, according to police.

Bensalem Police said they were able to link Carter to the crimes through a DNA database.
