'Marching At The Rock' To Bring More Than 500 Musicians To Newtown

Council Rock North hosts marching band competition featuring ten bands from schools throughout the region

NEWTOWN, PA — Where can you see more than 500 musicians and performers all in one place? At "Marching at the Rock" Saturday, September 23 at Council Rock High School North Newtown.

At the Cavalcade of Bands competition, 10 marching bands from across the region will display the music, artistry and showmanship they’ve practiced over the summer and fall season. The contest steps off at 6:30 p.m. at Walt Snyder Stadium at CR North, 62 Swamp Road, Newtown.

Competing bands will be judged by professionals, with the event culminating in an awards ceremony. As the host band, Council Rock North Marching Band will perform in exhibition and honor their senior members at the end of the evening during senior recognition.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. Children ages 5 and under are admitted for free. A full concession stand featuring a variety of snacks, band merchandise and candy grams will be available throughout the event. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the band website www.crnband.org.

Proceeds benefit the Council Rock High School North music program. The Council Rock North Marching Band is directed by Mark Filosi under the leadership of Director of Bands, Wayne Bishop. Marching at the Rock was last held in Fall of 2019 as an independent Festival.

  • Haverford – Havertown
  • Nazareth Area – Nazareth
  • Neshaminy – Langhorne
  • Pen Argyl Area - Pen Argyl
  • Pennridge – Perkasie
  • Plymouth Whitemarsh – Plymouth Meeting
  • William Tennent – Warminster
  • Council Rock North - Newtown (in exhibition)

Cavalcade of Bands is a nonprofit organization composed of over 100 member schools coming together to compete on the interscholastic level. Its motto is “education through musical involvement.”
