Matthew Stockburger is Troop 99's Newest Eagle Scout

Newtown resident Matthew Stockburger recently attained the highest rank in scouting- Eagle Scout.

Troop 99’s Matthew Stockburger recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. As his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project, Matthew created a storage area for outdoor toys and sports equipment at Steeple Kids Preschool which is located at Langhorne United Methodist Church. The project included painting, installing shelving and storage and building wheeled storage units that allow teachers to move items to and from the outdoor play areas. He describes the project as a way for him to give something back as a member of the church and an alumnus of Steeple Kids Preschool.

Matthew has been involved in scouting since he joined Pack 99 in first grade earning Arrow of Light before joining Troop 99. In addition to extensive camping throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey with his troop, Matthew traveled to the Haliburton Scout Reservation in Ontario, Canada. He was a member of the BSA Bucks County contingent to 2013 National Boy Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia. He participated in high adventure camping at both Florida Sea Base National High Adventure camp for a week of tall ship sailing in the Florida Keys and Philmont Scout Reservation High Adventure camp in New Mexico where he completed a 12 day, 120 mile trek. He completed the BSA’s National Youth Leadership Training in 2013. Matthew is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and has served as the Troop 99 Order of the Arrow Representative.

The son of George V and Kim Stockburger of Newtown, Matthew is a senior at Council Rock High School North where he is a member of the concert choir and Low Brass Captain in the marching band. He is also a member of Langhorne United Methodist’s Youth Group. Matthew plans to study filmmaking at Pennsylvania State University in the fall.
