Meet Newtown's Newest Crossing Guard

NEWTOWN, PA — It's the first day of school in Newtown, and there's a new crossing guard on the job.
Rich Selah has joined Newtown Township Police Department as the new crossing guard. He started Tuesday.
Police say there will be extra patrols to ensure children heading to school are safe. Residents are advised to slow down through the school zones.

Residents should also be advised of local school bus stopping laws. In Pennsylvania, drivers must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses that have their red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Motorists must stop when they are behind a bus, meeting the bus or approaching an intersection where a bus is stopped.
