Meet the talking tree, see it September 14 & 15 at the 20th VRF
The Village Renaissance Faire returns for you September 14 & 15 on the Middletown Grange Fairgrounds
The Village Renaissance Faire is proud to say that some of our best acts have found the faire out of the goodness of their heart and nobleness of our purpose. Then after finding us, and performing for our community, the loved our community too, and have decided to make us their faire of choice to. SO, now at our 20th year we will celebrate different performers who has found us, and remained part of our community. So, read about our acts, then come and see us and them on September 14 & 15, 2019
Lord Oakhart
A frequent character at festival raging from historical renaissance faires to modern steampunk, a new persona is blends in each and every faire. Although not a true member of this faire, or any, he walks the paths, drawing attention and adding a flaire. This year he will walk about as one of the tallest trees, walking the fairways. Meet him now, and see him then. A Q&A with a Tree, who would have thought...Ken Hone thats who:

Why do I do this?
- I have always been a fan of Ren Faires, medieval reenactments, mythologies, magic, RPGs and MMOs.
I am part of the Society of Creative Anachronism and have been for more than 2 decades.
I’m fascinated by Celtic mythology and the ancient stories from the past, especially the idea of the Green Man.
Then I met my inspiration and my creative ideas began to flow.
Why I choose this character?
- Many years ago, I was inspired by the performance artist known as DiVine. She walks the Animal Kingdom at Disney World dressed like a leaf goddess or a wood spirit.
I took one look at her and my jaw hit the ground. She was beautiful, majestic and ethereal all at the same time. She is part of the Living Vines group.
She had (and still has) an air of pomp and magic about her that I wanted to drink in and keep inside of me.
It was this first sighting of this incredible creature that I decided that I wanted to do this as well.
Then I got reassigned (I am a retired Army officer), then my wife got pregnant, then we moved to another post,
then she got pregnant again….it wasn’t until I retired a few years ago that I had the time to make this dream come true.

As you can imagine there are not too many outfits like this, so I had to make the suit from scratch. I bought the mask and stilts and made the rest by hand.
Now I attend conventions and renaissance faires in the area and bring a sense of magic and wonder to their denizens.
Why I choose this faire?
- I chose this faire because I have attended it in the past and enjoyed the energy level of the cast and patrons there.
So many positive people are part of this event and I wanted to be part of the magic that can come alive in these special times.
A wise man once said, "Magic is real. The way in which we can make someone smile or laugh or cheer with happiness is a sort of magic in and of itself."
I did SCA medieval reenactment before at this faire and when I created Oakheartt in late 2016 I had Village Ren Faire in mind as a place to visit and perform at.
The wonderful reactions and interactions that I got from the Village faire crowds last year made me want to come back and do it again!
So, this year I shall return and herd the trees of the Village and walk amongst the mortals as they dance and sing and have a weekend of merriment and joy. See why the Village Library of Wrightstown is the library that can.
