More Storms, 100-Degree Heat Index On The Way: PA Weather

A round of storms that moved through the area Sunday should be clearing, but expect more storms early in the week, as well as high heat.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying heat index values of 100 are predicted Monday. There is also a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning, the NWS predicts.

Storms are likely after 2 p.m. Monday. Storms Tuesday could come with heavy rain, the NWS warns. Local flooding is possible that day, the Hazardous Weather Outlook says.

Here is the forecast:

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Isolated showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Light southwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Heat index values as high as 100. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.
