Motorist Cited After Striking Pedestrians In Newtown Borough

The accident occurred when a vehicle driving west bound on Centre Avenue made a left onto southbound State Street.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Two pedestrians were hurt when they were struck by a car Friday evening as they were crossing State Street in front of Starbucks.

The accident occurred at 5 p.m. when a vehicle driving west bound on Centre Avenue made a left turn onto southbound State Street and struck the man and woman, said Newtown Borough Police.

The driver, a 38 year old Bensalem man, was cited for the violation, according to police.

The pedestrians, a 42 year old man and a 38 year old woman, both from Langhorne, were transported to St. Mary Medical Center with head and back injuries. Both have been subsequently released from the hospital, police said.
