Motorists Face Narcotics Charges, Thefts Investigated: Newtown Police
Newtown Township Police also investigated several incidents of fraud and participated in two truck enforcement details.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department responded to the following calls between Nov. 10 and 17:
November 10
- At approximately 11:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Hyundai SUV operator in the area of West Road. As a result of an investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The operator was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant out of Bucks County and was charged with possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
- A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 3:15 p.m. to report a potential phone scam. The resident explained that she continues to get phone calls about a package that was allegedly flagged by Customs and Border Patrol due to suspected drugs in the package. The caller claimed that the resident would be arrested if she didn’t provide her personal information and monetary compensation. Police confirmed that this is a known scam and advise residents to be vigilant against scams like these and to block the callers.
- At approximately 4:15 p.m. police responded to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a stolen bicycle. The total value of loss was $479.99. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
November 11

- At approximately 1 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Odyssey operator in the area of Penns Trail. As a result of an investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The operator was taken into custody, processed, and released. Charges are pending evidence results.
- At 8:30 a.m. police were dispatched to a Wrightstown Township residence for the report of two stolen quads. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
November 14
- At approximately 8:15 a.m. police were dispatched to a business located in Newtown Township for the report of a catalytic converter theft from a work vehicle. A few hours later, police received the report of another catalytic converter theft that occurred nearby from a personal vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

- The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail at the Newtown Bypass and Campus Drive. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield. During the detail, 17 trucks were stopped and inspected. Four trucks and two drivers were placed out of service and eight citations and 16 warnings were issued for violations that were found.
November 17
- The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail at Durham Road and Fox Hill Drive in Wrightstown. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough Upper Makefield. During the detail, one citation and six warnings were issued for violations that were found.
- A Newtown Township resident contacted police at 4 p.m. to report a fraud involving a forged check. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
