Power Line Issue Forces Another "Music On The Street" Cancellation In Newtown

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA - For the fourth time, organizers of "Music On The Street" in Newtown Borough have been forced to cancel the outdoor concert scheduled for Thursday evening in downtown Newtown.

The first two concerts were canceled due to the weather. Last week's concert and this week's event have been canceled for a different reason - an issue with PECO power lines.

"No music again this week," reports Mark Gatta, the owner of Opus Elite Real Estate and concert organizer. "Unless they figure out this wiring situation I don't know how we are going to be able to have it next week either."

Gatta expressed frustration, adding that he has no time frame for PECO to address the wiring situation.

The free concerts had been scheduled every Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. through September 3 - weather permitting - in front of the Opus Elite Real Estate Office.

The series is tentatively scheduled to continue with Brian Ulrich on August 6, John Thomas on August 13, School of Rock Newtown on August 20, Aim X Dam on August 27 and Meg Russell on September 3.
