NAC Hosting Annual Tree Lighting Tonight

On Friday, Dec. 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30pm, the Newtown Athletic Club’s Have a Heart Foundation will host a special tree lighting ceremony with Santa Claus and the Richboro Middle School Choir and the public is invited to attend.

This event is open to both members of the NAC and the general public and is geared towards families for an evening of joyous holiday celebration and fun, the NAC said

The tree lighting will take place outdoors at the main entrance of the NAC where a 17-foot Douglass Fir will be lit with lights and glow candles.

The celebration will continue indoors in the main lobby with complimentary hot cocoa and cookies. Pizza and pretzels will be available for purchase, as well.

Both NAC members and the general public will be able to participate in the tree lighting by donating a light in the memory of a loved one they have lost or one who is currently living with a terminal disease.

This will be a tree of love and light allowing everyone to keep the memory of their loved ones shining brightly for this holiday season.

This year is the first year that the NAC and their Foundation have done this and they plan to make it an annual event, the NAC said.

“When we first planned this event our goal was to honor lost loved ones during this season of joy and giving. We have had such an overwhelmingly positive response that we plan to do this annually,” NAC Have a Heart Foundation Executive Director Kelly Beauparlant said.

All funds raised will support the NAC Have a Heart Foundation.

The NAC Have a Heart Foundation is owned by the Newtown Athletic Club and is dedicated to raising funds for both local and global causes of all types, as well as supports advocacy at the federal level to promote the Right To Try legislation which is a bill which would allow all terminally ill patients to receive experimental drugs that have passed Phase 1 FDA trials and are now in Phase 2 and 3 FDA trials. Currently, these patients are required to wait an average of 8 to 15 years for the FDA to approve life-saving drugs. The legislation is bipartisan and the foundation is dedicated to the passage of this bill for the good of over 30 million terminally ill patients in our country today.
