New Coffee Shop Opening On State Street This Winter

A new coffee shop is opening this winter in Newtown Borough. The Coffee Room will open on State Street, just a few doors down from The Temperance House.

Owner Margaret Kumar tells Patch the shop, which will also provide a daily selection of baked goods and light lunch items in addition to coffee, is aiming for a mid-December opening, "at least with several soft opening invitation events."

The Coffee Room will be located at 15 South State Street. It will seat around 30 people and will offer wifi.

Beans will be roasted by Counter Culture Coffee. "We will have bags of beans for sale as well as a few Coffee Room branded items," said Kumar said, a 20-year resident of Newtown Township and mother of three.

"Newtown is a natural place for us to open. We love and are committed to Newtown and want to share in the community. We are hopeful that our shop will become a true destination for our friends, family and the whole community," she said.
