Mondello announced plans to open their new pastry shop earlier this year
“Coming your way. Nino is so excited,” Mondello wrote on Facebook.
One longtime customer of their New Jersey store asked whether they would be able to buy Pasticciotto at the new shop.
“He (Nino) will make them by hand for you,” Mondello responded. “Wait till you guys start smelling the store … the whole shopping center will smell of the great pastries the Italians have been known to make!”
“Best Walnut Ring! I drive 30 minutes to get it often,” wrote another fan.
“He will continue to make his famous walnut ring,” responded Mondello.
Nino and his wife, Jane, opened Nino’s Pastry Shoppe in Hamilton back in 1996. Nino was born and raised in Palermo, Sicily. He came to America with his family when he was 15 years old. He worked in different bakeries, took everything he learned, opened his own bakery and realized his dream.
Over the years, the couple built the pastry shop into one of the best around known for its cannolis, pies, cookies, cakes, pastries and much more.
The shoppe also specializes in cream donuts, Danish, crumb cake, tea biscuits, walnut rings and Italian pastries, including cookies, cakes and other goodies.
