The project included installation of a brand new kitchen, new flooring in the bar and kitchen area, the removal of an energy-guzzling pizza oven and the replacement of the original 14-year-old bar with a new stainless steel bar with granite top and stone side and a porcelain floor surrounding it.

The Parrot reopened just in time for this year's Newtown Irish Festival featuring nine days packed with Irish-inspired food, drinks and entertainment.

The festival kicked off Thursday night, March 9 with a performance by the Irish music band, the Malarkey Brothers, and will continue through Sunday, March 19 with plenty of Irish spirit.

"We have Irish dancers, live musical groups and a balloon artist for the kids," said Lutz. "We have the best Irish rock band in the Philadelphia area - Jamison - for eight hours on St. Patrick's Day. We also have the Malarkey Brothers, Mike Brill, the Shanty's, Fat Mezz and the Zone. The Juliano Brothers will play on Sunday. And we'll have Go Go Gadjet wrapping everything up."

In addition to its musical lineup, the Parrot will be whipping up a delicious Irish-themed menu featuring Shamrock sandwiches (corned beef, turkey and ham), Monte Cristo sandwiches, corned beef and cabbage, Irish chowder, Shepherd's Pie, bangers and mash, fish and chips, Reuben sandwiches and more.

Specialty drinks will include a Boozy Shamrock Shake, Leprechaun Lemonade, Thin Mint Tini, Irish Potato Martini, Bailey's Irish Creme and lots more.

Reservations are highly recommended. There is a $25 reservation surcharge for up to four guests for 90 minutes. Reservations are sold out on St. Patrick's Day, but walk-ins are welcome.

There is a cover charge of $5 for the evening entertainment on March 10 and 11 and $10 on March 12, 17, 18 and 19. There is no cover on March 9, 15 and 16.
