The store received liquor license transfer approval from the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors during a meeting Wednesday.
The Frosted Mug cafe exists in several Acme locations. It serves both beer and food.

According to the proposal, Acme will renovate the interior of the existing store to add a 30-seat restaurant that will serve prepared food and beer for on-premises consumption.
Acme spokeswoman Danielle D'Elia said it will be a "couple of months" before the new cafe opens locally.

Acme stores with Frosted Mug cafes currently include the following Pennsylvania locations, among others: Doylestown, Flourtown, Devon, Granite Run and Concordville.
Under a new state law signed Wednesday that takes effect in 60 days, grocery stores that are permitted to sell beer will soon be able to sell up to four bottles of wine also.
