Newtown Actress performs in "A Christmas Carol" at Walnut Street Theatre

This holiday season, Actress Cameron Flurry of Newtown takes the stage at Walnut Street Theatre in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."

While the busy holiday season reaches full swing, Walnut Street Theatre’s production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol offers a fun and enjoyable way to slow down and enjoy time with family. A Philadelphia holiday tradition expected to welcome more than 16,000 kids to the theatre during its run, this year’s production features one young actress from Newtown.

Appearing for her first time in A Christmas Carol as Fan is Newtown actress Cameron Flurry. Flurry has performed in four previous productions at the Walnut, including Mary Poppins in 2014 and last year’s Mainstage holiday musical, A Christmas Story. Flurry is also a member of The Theatre School at Walnut Street Theatre.

On stage, audiences get a glimpse of 1840s London, where they meet Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter old man whose heart is vacant of love and affection. This grumpy miser dismisses every glimmer of holiday cheer with a “Bah, Humbug.” On one unforgettable Christmas Eve, however, three ghostly visitors set out to change Old Scrooge’s ways forever. Traveling through his past, present, and possible future, Scrooge is awakened to the magic of Christmas. He truly learns what the holiday season is all about: generosity and love.
