Newtown Arts Company Hosting 'Damn Yankees' Auditions

Auditions for the company's August production of "Damn Yankees" will be held Saturday, April 27, Mon April 29, and Tuesday, April 30.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Arts Company is holding auditions for its upcoming production of "Damn Yankees."

The show, which will hit the stage in August, will have open auditions from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 29 and Tuesday, April 30.

Auditions will be held at Crossing Community Church, 80 Lower Silver Lake Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

Callbacks will be on Monday, May 6, by invitation only.

Various male and female lead and secondary roles, plus a youth ensemble for actors ages 10 and over, will be cast for this non paid, non-Equity production.

Those looking for a role in the show should be prepared to sing 16–32 bars from "Damn Yankees" or a similar-style Broadway song that best displays your vocal ability.

Bring sheet music, an accompanist will be provided. CDs will not be accepted and a cappella singing is discouraged.

Those trying out should also be prepared to dance.

"Damn Yankees" is directed by Amelia Arrigo Ball, with assistant director Danielle Ziemba, and music director Susan den Outer. It is being produced by Nancy Pickering, Jackie Tamburrino and Marcia Wittmann.

Rehearsals begin in mid-May with performances Aug. 1 through Aug. 7 at Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State St., Newtown.
