Newtown Borough Council's Perry Warren To Run For State Rep.

Democrat Perry Warren, a member of Newtown Borough Council, has announced his candidacy for the 31st District seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Warren is an attorney and father of five. He is seeking the seat being vacated by Steve Santarsiero, who is running for Congress in 2016. Warren was first elected to Newtown Borough Council in 2009 and re-elected in 2013.

Representative Steve Santarsiero joined Warren during his announcement event in Yardley Monday.

“I’m really proud to stand with Perry and support him in this race because I know he can win and, moreover, I know that he will continue to serve his community with integrity and respect and hard work.” Santarsiero said. “

If elected, Warren pledges to promote policies and measures “to preserve a livable environment for generations to come; to fully fund education and our schools; to promote sensible gun policies, within the Constitution, to keep our communities safe; to ensure livable wages as so many of us cling to remain in a diminishing middle class; to sustain our values of social justice; and, in doing so, to bring good stewardship of not only our natural, but also our economic, resources, in the promotion of good governance,” he said in a statement.

Warren is a Newtown native who received his law degree with Honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law. He co-founded his law firm, Maselli Warren, P.C., in 1998 and maintains offices in Newtown and in Princeton, N.J.

He is married to Liz, a registered nurse. The couple has five children.

The 31st District includes Lower Makefield Township; Wards 1, 2 and 3 of Morrisville Borough; Newtown Borough; Newtown Township; and Yardley Borough.

Newtown Township Supervisor Ryan Gallagher last week announced his bid for the seat. Gallagher is a Republican.
