Newtown Borough To Vote On 2017 Budget Next Week

Newtown Borough is set to adopt its 2017 budget that stands at $3.92 million and contains no tax hike, according to borough documents.

The proposed budget is slightly up from 2016's budget that was $3.81 million.

The 2017 millage rate for property taxes will be 13.25 mills, the same as 2016's budget. This marks the second year in a row the borough will not impose a tax hike on residents.

The largest expenditure in the 2017 proposed budget is police costs, which stands at $573,041.

The largest revenue source in the budget is the borough's earned income tax. The projected revenue is $870,000.
