Newtown Boy Scout Troops 29 and 99 Are "Snow Angels"

Boy scouts from BSA Troops 29 and 99 dug out elderly and disabled residents in several Newtown Township neighborhoods.

Boy Scouts from Troop 29 and 99 did a good turn in several Newtown Township neighborhoods after the recent storm. As participants in the township's Snow Angel Program, the scouts shoveled sidewalks and driveways for elderly and physically disabled residents. Troop 29 completed 10 homes in the Headley, Kirkwood and Newtown Gate communities. Troop 99 shoveled for 9 individuals in Newtown Grant, Nob Hill and Colonial Commons. While in Newtown Grant, scouts Colin Chaar and Micheal Kiedaisch came across a 93 year old resident struggling to shovel her driveway and suggested she contact the program; they cleared her driveway before moving on to the next home on their list.

Newtown residents who are interested in assistance shoveling or who would like to volunteer can contact Snow Angel Coordinator, Kathy Pawlenko at 215- 968-2800 ext. 272. or via email at kathyp@newtownpa.gov.

Troop 29 is chartered by Newtown's Lutheran Church of God's Love. Troop 99 is chartered by Newtown Grant Home Owners Association.
