Newtown Arts Company will host an opportunity to learn about its exciting 39th season, to explore the newly renovated historic Newtown Theatre, and to offer economical Season Subscriptions before tickets go on sale to the general public.

The 2022 lineup of shows includes five main stage productions — three blockbuster musicals, A Neil Simon comedy and a poignant drama — plus a special family-friendly Classics for Kids production.

The six-show season includes Classics for Kids on March 12; “The Wedding Singer” from April 22 to May 1; “Steel Magnolias” from June 17 to 26; Roald Dahl’s “Matilda” the Musical from July 29 to August 7; “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” from October 21 to 30; and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” December 2 – 11.

Guests at the December 5 party will be able to try out the new theater seating, explore the new party areas and enjoy a holiday favorite with a live, enhanced radio-show production of Dickens “A Christmas Carol” which will begin at 7 p.m. General admission tickets to “A Christmas Carol” are only available at the door and are by donation.

In keeping with CDC and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania COVID guidelines, guests are required to show identification and proof of vaccination or a negative Covid PCR taken within 36 hours of these indoor events at the theater. Guests must wear face masks inside the theater, except when eating or drinking.

With a proud tradition of producing live theater and theater education in Newtown since 1983, Newtown Arts Company was pleased to present, in 2006, the first live theater productions at the Newtown Theatre in decades! Community response was overwhelming and, with support from appreciative community members, Newtown Arts Company launched its first full show season in 2008.  The new theatre renovations will be able to accommodate even more patrons, as they include a wheelchair lift and wheelchair accessible restroom on the main level.

A portion of the proceeds from Newtown Arts Company shows is dedicated to a Scholarship Fund. Since its founding, Newtown Arts Company has granted more than $180,000 in scholarship awards to talented local students pursuing postsecondary education in the performing and fine arts.
