Newtown Cub Scout Den Leader Chad Moore Honored with Prestigious Willian T. Hornaday Gold Badge

Washington Crossing Council recently recognized Pack 380's Chad Moore for his leadership in conservation.

Pack 380 Den Leader Chad Moore was recently awarded a William T. Hornaday Gold Badge by the Washington Crossing Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The award was given in recognition of his leadership in teaching the boys in his den about conservation as they advanced through the ranks of Tiger, Wolf and Bear. Much of this instruction took place during bi-annual conservation projects in their community. Moore and his cub scouts took part in projects at Clark Nature Center, Silver Lake Nature Center, Churchville Nature Center, Barn Nature Center, Tyler State Park and the Garden of Reflection 9-11 Memorial.

The William T. Hornaday Gold Badge is not one that is commonly awarded according to Tamanend District Executive Chris Rieder. He explained that the Gold Badge, considered “an Olympic Medal conveyed by the Earth”, has not been awarded in Washington Crossing Council since 2013.

Moore, who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as a youth in the program, lives in Newtown with his wife Stephanie and their sons Dexter and Grady.
