Newtown Democrats Announce Endorsements For Township Positions
Newtown Democrats have endorsed four candidates for positions in Newtown Township.
Newtown Democrats have endorsed four candidates for positions in Newtown Township.
Phil Calabro will run for re-election to a third six-year term to the township’s Board of Supervisors.
Calabro, a 29-year resident of Newtown Township, works in marketing and sales and has a degree in Public Administration from The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College).

He spent the last 20 years on the board of directors of the Newtown Grant Homeowners Association, and is the former chairman of the Newtown Democrats. Calabro is also a Democratic Party Committeeman for the township’s District 8. He and his wife of 32 years, Kelly, have two grown children.
Linda Bobrin is running for her first term as Township Supervisor. She has lived in Newtown Township for 27 years. She practices law in the areas of social security disability and workers’ compensation and earned her J.D. from Widener School of Law. Bobrin volunteers by doing pro-bono work, as well as working with a local hospice organization. She and her husband of 27 years, Neil Schnitzer, have three adult children.

John Mack, also running as a first-time candidate for Township Supervisor, is a 22-year resident of Newtown Township. He is a small businessman and online publisher with degrees from Franklin & Marshall College, New York Institute of Technology, and Columbia University. Mack is currently serving on the Country Bend Homeowners Association where he organized a committee of young parents to oversee the installation of new playgrounds. He and his wife of 31 years, Deborah, have two grown children.
Alisa Monteirois the Democrats’ candidate for Newtown Township Tax Collector. She grew up in neighboring Holland, before moving to Newtown 12 years ago. Monteirois is a graduate of Council Rock High School and works at PPD, Inc., a pharmaceutical services company, where she is director of project management in hematology and oncology. She has her B.A. in biology from Bloomsburg University and her M.B.A. in Finance from La Salle University. Alisa is the mother of two children who have attended Council Rock schools.
All four candidates have qualified to appear on the ballot in the Democratic primary election on Tuesday, May 16.
“It's exciting to see such a highly qualified team of candidates. They’re all long-time residents of the Newtown area with deep roots in the community, having raised their children here and sending them to Council Rock schools. Now they are ready to take this next step and are committed to putting people first, not special interests," said Dennis Fisher, chairman of the Newtown Democrats.
