Newtown Firefighters Warning Residents About T-Shirt Scam

NEWTOWN, PA — A new spam message is making its rounds, this one fraudulently advertising the sale of fire company t-shirts.

“We do not sell department t-shirts, except at Beerfest,” wrote Newtown Fire and Emergency Services on its Facebook page.

The spam message reads, “Newtown Fire and Emergency Services t-shirts are on special discount only for today. Order now (and it provides a link). Reply stop to opt out.”

“If you receive a text - or 15 of them - please report it as spam and do NOT click on any links,” advise the local firefighters. “There have been several Facebook posts and text messages targeting surrounding fire companies.”
