Newtown First Night Cancelled This Year, Organizers Announce

Newtown, PA - There will be no First Night in Newtown this year, organizers announced Tuesday.

“We are sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances - First Night (12/31/15) will not be taking place this year. Thank you for your support,” Newtown First posted to Facebook.

The event’s website reiterated the message.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Newtown First.org will be unable to host First Night Newtown 2016. Please check back in soon for updates on future community events. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your past support,” the website said.

First Night has been held annually in Newtown as a way to celebrate the New Year alcohol free. The First Night 2014 marked 15 years of the annual tradition, according to Courier Times coverage of last year’s event.
