Newtown Jewelry Store Changes Hands, Announces New Ownership

Five longtime employees are the new owners of Bernie Robbins Jewelers in Somers Point, New Jersey, and in Newtown.

NEWTOWN, PA — Harvey and Madalyn Rovinsky, owners of the 60-year-old iconic Berine Robbins Jewelers in Newtown and Somers Point, New Jersey, officially passed the torch and ownership of the company on Wednesday to a group of five longtime employees.

The Rovinsky’s entered into negotiations to sell the company in 2022, but before the end of the year quickly realized the best legacy for their family-run company was to “GIFT” Bernie Robbins to five of its employee who have been stewards of their company for 20 to 30 years each.

On May 1, Sandra Moran, Andy Lazar, Stephen Berman, Gen Flaxman and Steve Jaffe officially took over as the new owners of the jewelry business.

A family-run business since Bernie Robbins opened it in 1962, the Rovinsky’s have known each member of the new ownership team for at least 20 years and said they are "confident in the energy, enthusiasm and expertise" they will be bringing to customers.

To each of the new partners, it’s a dream come true amd for some, it was never as much as a dream.

“Who would have imagined I’d be a partner at Bernie Robbins," said Andy Lazar, one of the five new partners. The new leadership team brings a combined industry expertise spanning decades.

Sandra Moran, boasting 22 years as a seasoned jewelry purchasing director, brings an impeccable eye for quality and style.

Stephen Berman, of Newtown, with 20 years of luxury sales and management mastery, is poised to ignite new avenues for growth and will be based in the Newtown store.

Gen Flaxman, a second-generation jeweler, has spearheaded the Bernie Robbins Client Experience, ensuring unparalleled service.

Steve Jaffe is the diamond buyer for over 30 years, continuously offering a superlative diamond selection following emerging trends.

And, Andy Lazar, who has worked for Bernie Robbins Jewelers for 31 years, is the go-to
authority on watches, with a phenomenal jewelry following.
