Newtown Library Company 5K, Market Day Set For Oct. 6

NEWTOWN, PA — Registration is now open for the 12th annual Newtown Library 5K. The run/walk will be held on Oct. 6, the same day as Newtown Market Day. The race course follows a trail through Newtown Borough. It ends outside of the library, where Market Day booths and festivities will be located.

5K registration tables will open at 8 a.m. and the event will kick off with a yoga warm-up at 8:45 a.m. The race begins at 9 a.m. The race map and registration information can be found on the Newtown Library Company website.

Registration is $25 a person, or $20 individually for groups of four or more. Same-day sign up for individuals is $30.

To register, visit the Library website, Facebook page or stop by the library at 114 East Centre Avenue, Newtown. T-shirts will be available the day of the race for the first 100 participants. Awards will be given to the top male and female of each age category.

The Library 5K is being held in conjunction with the 42nd annual Newtown Market Day, an old harvest season tradition in Newtown, where farmers once brought their crops to town to sell while enjoying a day of festivities and contests.

Market Day will feature a book sale at the library, live music, food, children’s events, hayrides, and games. There will also be Colonial-era demonstrations and artists displaying a wide variety of crafts, including spinning, quilting, rug hooking, fine arts, jewelry making, photography and blacksmithing.
