“This will be a great time for family fun,” said Mahlon Esh, owner of Aaron’s Fresh Country Meats, who is organizing the pig roast. “This a chance for frequent customers, and people new to the experience, to enjoy the Pennsylvania Dutch culture, have a great lunch, and take home a variety of favorite items for the family.”

Since the Farmer’s Market opened 20 years ago in Newtown, local residents have enjoyed fresh, home-made meats, salads, baked goods, desserts, produce, and more that are a feast for all of the senses.

“My mother, five-year-old daughter and I love coming to this market,” said Caryn, a stay-at-home mom from Newtown, whose mother, Adrienne Leiberman, comes to eat and shop three times a month. “Everyone working here is so friendly, the prices are reasonable and everything is so fresh. My mom just LOVES this Farmer’s Market!”

Each vendor has its own specialty item, including cream cheese spread, hand-rolled soft pretzels, sushi, seafood, salsa, fresh produce, pumpkin pie, ground beef, chicken sausages, pound cake, coffee, falafel, gummi bears, and BBQ wings.

Among the favorite items that customers rave about are: Zook’s BBQ ribs and wings, Smucker’s Salads home-made cole slaw and potato salad, and Barbie’s hand-rolled soft pretzels and fresh made creamy milkshakes in a variety of mouth-watering flavors.

“I stopped by the Farmer’s Market the other day and received a pretzel when I bought a peach milkshake from Barbie’s Soft Pretzels, and I could taste the quality in both products from the first crunch from biting into my pretzel,” said Laura Wisniewski, 26, a child care assistant from Hatboro. “I am super excited to go there again soon.”

Ruth Smucker, co-owner of Smucker’s Salads, is looking forward to demonstrating what is involved in making her one-of-a-kind apple sauce.

Ruth and her husband, Dave, sell home-made pancakes, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, as well as dozens of salads, pickles, puddings and other desserts at their market shop. “I am looking forward to seeing all of the people who want to come and enjoy our special celebration with us,” said Ruth Smucker.

The celebration is expected to satisfy your sweet tooth, and what better place than Dutch Treats, which sells a wide variety of mouth-watering candies, lollipops, nuts, spices, organic honey, nut butters, popcorn and crafts.

“We have many weekly customers, and others who are just finding out about us,” said Alvin Fisher, owner of Dutch Treats. “We are truly looking forward to sharing our big anniversary celebration with everyone.”
