Newtown Quaker Meeting to Hear Susan Hoskins, LCSW, Executive Director of the Princeton Senior Resource Center

Susan Hoskins will speak on Conversations About the End of Life on Sunday November 22 at 9:45 a.m. at the Newtown Quaker Meetinghouse

Susan W. Hoskins, member of Newtown Friends Meeting and Executive Director of the Princeton Senior Resource Center, will lead a discussion on Conversations About the End of Life: Healthcare Directives on Sunday November 22 at 9:45 a.m. for the Adult Class at Newtown Quaker Meeting, 219 Court Street. The public is invited to attend.

Susan Hoskins said, “Naming someone to be your decision maker and completing a written directive is a great start, but not enough in today’s complex healthcare environment. This program will talk about having ‘the conversation’ with family, friends and healthcare professionals to let them know how we envision the end of life and how we want to be cared for.”

Susan said these conversations are not easy to have in our death-denying culture. “It is often easiest to have a series of discussions over time when opportunities arise. This also facilitates sharing preferences that change as we see what others choose and as we face unforeseen health conditions or new treatments. The program will review key components of the conversation and suggestions for how to start it.”
