Newtown Quakers to Hear about “Gun Control” from Richmond Shreve, Sports Car Driver and Broadcaster

Richmond B. Shreve, member of Newtown Quaker Meeting, activist and former businessman, will make a presentation on “Gun Control” to the Newtown Meeting Adult Class at 9:45 a.m. at the Quaker Meetinghouse, 219 Court Street. (newtownfriendsmeeting.org). Meeting for Worship in the manner of Friends will follow at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

Richmond describes himself as “a civic activist who analyzes and writes about contemporary concerns for justice and environmental stewardship.” His multi-media Gun Violence presentation provides a context for rational discussion about reducing firearms-related deaths and injuries

Shreve’s vocations and avocations span broadcasting, electronics, marketing, property management, graphic arts, cinema, and digital publishing. His career began in electronics (USN) and broadcasting and over the years he has maintained a hobby interest in amateur radio and the audio-visual arts. For thirty years (until 2002) he was co-owner and CEO of the Middlebrook Crossroads business park (Edmar Corporation) in Bridgewater, NJ.

Until hanging up his helmet in 2012 Richmond was also a high performance driving enthusiast instructing sports car owners in racing techniques at major tracks including NJ Motorsports Park, Watkins Glen, and Summit Point.

As a computer power user, graphic artist, photographer, and website designer Richmond currently helps nonprofits build and maintain web sites. He is a former vestry member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent. His books include Lost River Anthology and Instructor Candidate Manual.

Richmond has a BS degree in Psychology from Ohio State University. He lives with his wife Marguerite Chandler in Newtown, PA. He continues to write essays and short fiction and travel extensively with Marguerite in their fifth wheel RV.

Newtown Friends Meeting, is open to the public, with Sunday School classes for children and adults at 9:45 a.m. and worship based on expectant silence “after the manner of Friends” at 11 a.m. Childcare is provided.
