Newtown Quakers to Hear Richmond Shreve, Businessman, Sports Car Racing Enthusiast and Broadcaster
Richmond B. Shreve will speak on “My Spiritual Journey” to the Newtown Meeting Adult Class at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, November 8, at the historic Quaker Meetinghouse at 219 Court Street (http://www.newtownfriendsmeeting.org). Meeting for Worship in the manner of Friends will follow at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
Richmond’s businesses and interests have included: Electronics Technician in Broadcast Radio; Graphic Artist; Commercial Property Manager; High Performance Sports Car Driver; Gaffer for a Film Festival; and Volunteer Firefighter.

Richmond’s career began in electronics (USN) and broadcasting and over the years he has maintained a hobby interest in amateur radio, and the audio-visual arts while working in sales and marketing (Harris, REL, Sandoz). For thirty years until the family sold the business (2002) he was co-owner and CEO of the Middlebrook Crossroads business park (Edmar Corporation) in Bridgewater, NJ.
Shreve holds a lifetime FCC Second Class Commercial radio license, and an amateur radio General Class license (W2EMU). Until hanging up his helmet in 2012 he was a high performance driving enthusiast instructing sports car owners in racing techniques at major tracks including NJ Motorsports Park, Watkins Glen, and Summit Point. He is the author and publisher of the Instructor Candidate Manual used by BMWCCA and other car clubs to train their on-track in-car instructors.

Prior to moving to Newtown, PA, Shreve volunteered as chief engineer of WCFA, the Cape May, NJ community radio station, as well as working as a gaffer on the Cape May Film Festival technical crew, a driver/engineer in the Cape May Point Volunteer Fire Company and Treasurer of its Firemen’s Relief Association. He edited and printed the Cape May Point Taxpayer’s Association Newsletter.
As a computer power user, graphic artist, photographer, and website designerRichmond currently helps nonprofits build and maintain web sites. He is a former vestry member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent.
Richmond is a citizen journalist and former Senior Editor at OpEdNews.com, a progressive news and opinion site on the internet. His books include Lost River Anthology and Instructor Candidate Manual.
Richmond has a BS degree in Psychology from Ohio State University. He lives with his wife Marguerite Chandler in Newtown, PA where he continues to write essays and short fiction. They are environmental activists and travel extensively with their fifth wheel RV.
Newtown Friends Meeting, is open to the public, with Sunday School classes for children and adults at 9:45 a.m. and worship based on expectant silence “after the manner of Friends” at 11 a.m. Childcare is provided
