Newtown Ready to Celebrate Small Business Saturday

There will be ribbon cuttings for two new businesses, plus promotions and more.

Newtown businesses will celebrate Small Business Saturday with sales, ribbon cuttings and a memorial in honor of a former State Street shop owner.

Small Business Saturday is this Saturday, Nov. 29. On that day, two new State Street shops will have ribbon cuttings, including Byers Treasures at 110 South State St. and Craftsmanship at 120 South State St.

Ribbon cuttings will begin at 11:45 a.m.

Just before that, the State Street business community will honor Frank Derito, who passed away in June, with a bench in his memory. He was the owner of Frank Derito Fine Men’s Clothing at 28 S. State St.

  • Sweet Pea Creams & Confections will double your gift certificate purchase on Small business Saturday between 11-3 p.m.
  • Brass Lantern is offering 10 percent off
  • Green Parrot is offering a bonus $25 gift card with the purchase of a $100 gift card
  • Newtown Hardware House will have free craft beer tasting from 12 to 3 p.m.
  • The Newtown Bookshop will host authors for book signings beginning at 11 a.m. and special promotions are planned
