Newtown Residents Invited to PECO Presentation

By James Boyle State Rep. Steve Santarsiero encourages residents from his district to attend Wednesday night's meeting with PECO reps.

State Rep. Steve Santarsiero (D-Bucks) invites Lower Makefield, Morrisville, Newtown and Yardley residents to attend a public meeting where PECO representatives will present plans for infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the electric service reliability in the area.

The meeting, which will be co-hosted by Santarsiero and Sen. Chuck McIlhinney, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at Pennwood Middle School, 1523 Makefield Road, Lower Makefield Township.

“While almost every neighborhood in my district experienced significant outages lasting more than a couple of days during ice and wind storms, many neighborhoods continue to have outages during clear weather. When I was able to convince PECO to concentrate a plan of upgrades to address the problems in the northern area of Lower Makefield Township, the resulting work has considerably decreased the number and duration of power outages for that area,” Santarsiero said. “This year I have worked with PECO to request the same kind of action for the remaining problems areas and that plan will be presented Sept. 18.”

Santarsiero said the area has experienced five major power outages in the last three years -- three of them in this year alone.

“I am grateful to PECO CEO Craig Adams for his commitment to meeting with me and following through with a plan of action,” Santarsiero said. “We look forward to tracking the results of these improvements and continuing to strengthen and reinforce our electric power grid.”
