Newtown Cheerleaders Shine In First Performance

NAC Rock Starz special needs team put on a stellar performance at the Cupid Cheer Challenge on Sunday.

The Shining Starz, a local special needs cheerleading team, joined dozens of area cheerleading squads at the Cupid Cheer Challenge on Sunday.

It was the team's first performance. Formed one year ago, the Shining Starz practice once a week on Saturdays. 

About 1000 people attended the Cupid Cheer Challenge, which was held at Council Rock North's gymnasium.

The team includes: Taylor Garfield, 15; Kelsey Greenwald, 12; Reilly Hanna, 12; Michaela Noel, 14; Julia Shirey, 11; Angel Wade, 14; Heather Young, 23; Peter Brill, 31; and team helper Caitlin Gawronski, 11.
