Newtown Theatre Staff Unearths Fun Find From Historic Basement

But some relics that surfaced in the basement of the Newtown Theatre prove there was once a time when going to the movies required a mere dime and a penny.

Staff recently unearthed some old movie tickets from the basement of the historic theatre, which began screening movies in 1906.
"You never know what you'll find in the basement of a movie theatre that's been showing films for more than 100 years! This week, we found rolls of tickets that were used back when admission cost 11¢, 12¢ or 28¢," the theatre said in a Facebook post.
