Newtown 'Touch A Truck' Organizers Hoping Third Time's A Charm

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — After two postponements, the Newtown Township Parks and Recreation Department is hoping the third time's a charm for its popular "Touch A Truck" experience.

The free event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 10 at Veterans Park, 234 Durham Road,
Newtown, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Youngsters are invited to stop by the park to see, touch, and climb aboard the big, hardworking trucks they see driving around the township.

Showcasing their vehicles at this year's event will be the Newtown Township Public Works Department, Leck Waste Services, SEPTA, Newtown Ambulance, Newtown Township Police, Newtown Fire Rescue, the U.S. Postal Service, among others.

"This is an opportunity to explore a variety of trucks and vehicles," said Parks and Recreation Department leaders. "Come learn how these vehicles work and operate."

Attendees should come prepared to hear vehicle horns being sounded as part of the event. "We recommend noise-cancelling headphones if you or your child is sensitive to loud noises."

Everyone is asked to access the park by using the Wrights Road entrance at the Newtown Elementary School. The parking lot at the Newtown Elementary School will also be available for overflow parking.
