Newtown Township Police: Noise Complaints And A Dog Bite

Friday, May 27
A resident of Thornbury Lane reported in April he discovered that three credit cards were fraudulently opened using his personal information. He told police that the address used on the accounts came back to Deptford, New Jersey and that more than $2,600 was charged against the accounts. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., a woman reported that people were arriving at the municipal skate park and creating very loud noise. An officer was on the location when he received the call and no one was coming into the park at that time. The officer did ask everyone to leave the park at 8:45, which they did without incident.

At 11:45 p.m., police were on patrol and checking the grounds of the Middletown Grange when they noticed a vehicle occupied by two adults. The couple was advised that they were not permitted on the property after dark. They left without incident.
Tuesday May 31
Police dispersed several juveniles from the picnic area at Sarcone's Deli on South Eagle at about 2:30 p.m. The teens left without incident.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., a resident of Parkview Way reported a suspicious male sitting on the curb waving his arms at passing motorists. The responding officer located the male subject, who explained that he was a Comcast salesman and provided his credentials and identification to the officer. He further explained that his cell phone was not working so he was trying to flag someone down to see if he could use a phone to call someone to pick him up. He told the officer that he did use someone’s phone and his boss was on his way to pick him up. He apologized for alarming any of the neighbors.
Wednesday, June 1
Police responded to the area of Eagleton Farms at around 1:30 p.m. for a report of a suspicious male going door-to-door selling an unknown product. The responding officer located the subject, ran his identifying information through the national database and found he was clear. The subject told the officer that he was trying to sell lawn care products and when asked admitted that he didn’t have a permit to do so. The subject was given instructions on how to obtain a permit and told to leave until he has one.
Shortly after 6:00 p.m., a resident of Society Place reported that within the past 24 hours he had received two phone calls informing him that he was a winner of Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes. The caller told the victim he would need to mail $400 in order to collect his prize. When the victim told the caller that he would not send the money the caller became angry and threatening so the victim terminated the call.
A resident of Taylor Avenue called police shortly before 7 p.m. to report that his daughter’s cell phone had been stolen while she was at the Council Rock High School North. The caller explained that his daughter told him that she had her phone in her closed purse when she went to class a little after 9 a.m., but at some point she discovered that her purse was moved, opened, and the phone was missing. She did report the incident to the teacher and to an employee of the security team, but it was unknown if she informed the School Resource Officer. The phone was valued at $200.
Thursday, June 2
Police were dispatched to the Newtown Grant Rec Center just after 4:00 a.m. for a noise complaint. The area was clear when officers arrived at the location.
Saturday June 4
Around 4:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Sycamore Street and Durham Road when a resident of Newtown Borough reported that a dog had bitten her. The 26 year-old victim told the officer that she was trying to pet the dog when it bit her. The owner of the dog said that the victim put her face near the dog when it bit her on the nose. The victim was transported to Saint Mary Medical Center for treatment. The owner stated that the animal was up to date on its shots and will provide documentation to confirm it.
Police responded to the area of Cedar Lane near Mill Creek Road shortly after 9 p.m. for a report of juveniles riding ATVs on the road. The officers checked the area and spoke with several people walking along the streets but did not locate the riders.
Sunday June 5
A resident of Cliveden Drive called police to report that he found a bicycle near his property yesterday and it was still at the same spot this morning. The responding officer retrieved the bike and it is being stored at police headquarters.
