Newtown Twp, Borough Under Snow Emergency

Move your cars: A snow emergency starts in Newtown Township at 11:59 p.m. tonight.

Due to the impending snow storm, both Newtown Township and Newtown Borough have declared a snow emergency. The snow emergency in Newtown Township prohibits parking on streets and started at 11:59 p.m. It goes through Thursday at noon. Depending on conditions, the snow emergency may be extended, police said.

In Newtown Borough, it begins at 10 a.m. All cars must be moved from snow emergency routes. Click here for details.

According to the snow emergency: "It shall be unlawful to park, or to allow to be parked, any motor vehicle on any road or street within the Township following deposit or accumulation of ice or snow of one (1) inch or greater, in depth, until the snow has been completely plowed for the full width of the cartway."

Also, the township has announced offices will be closed on Wednesday, March 7 and will reopen Thursday at 8 a.m.
