Newtown Twp Police Make 3 Recent DUI Arrests

One of the DUI arrests involved a 19-year-old who drove around a police barricade and into an accident scene, Newtown Twp Police say.

Newtown Township Police reported three recent DUI arrests. Two incidents happened Feb. 16, and a third happened on Feb. 21.

At 1:47 a.m. on Feb. 16, Newtown Township Police pulled over [Name Withheld] , 47, of Hamilton, N.J. for "multiple" violations. When officers arrived, they said [Name Withheld] smelled of alcohol. He was unable to complete field sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Later that morning, about two hours later, police were investigating a traffic accident on Washington Crossing Road that potentially involved a drunk driver. During the investigation, a grey sedan drove around the police barricade and into the scene of the accident.

The driver, Micah Laborde, 19, of Washington Crossing, was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests. He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance. A juvenile passenger in his car will also be issued a citation for underage drinking, police said.

On Feb. 21 shortly after 3 p.m., Newtown Township Police officers were dispatched to South Lancaster Lane after witnesses reported seeing a man slumped over a car steering wheel with the radio blaring.

While en route, the caller informed police the car was moving. Officers were able to locate the driver, later identified as Edne Pierreson of Ewing, N.J. Pierreson was slurring his speech, acting "confused and unsteady," and his eyes were blood shot, according to police.

He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
