Newtown's Memorial Day Parade Will Include Service At High School

The annual celebration is organized by American Legion's Morell Smith Post 440.

The annual Morell Smith Post 440 Memorial Day events will include a commemoration and memorial service at Council Rock North High School.

The service on Friday, May 22 will feature guest speaker Michael Metrovich, a physics teacher at Council Rock and a veteran of the Air Force.

The parade, held on Monday, May 25, will begin at the Commons West Building on Newtown-Yardley Road.

Police Chief Tony Wcjciechowski, a four year Air Force veteran, is the guest speaker for the parade.

The American Legion asks all comers to take a moment to remember the service members who sacrificed protecting our country.

The complete route of the parade is as follows:

  • STARTING AT THE COMMONS WEST BUILDING (NEWTOWN-YARDLEY ROAD) GOING SOUTH – LEFT INTO NEWTOWN CEMETERY.
  • MEMORIAL SERVICE AT MORELL SMITH GRAVESITE.
  • RIGHT ON ELM AVENUE, LEFT ONTO WASHINGTON AVENUE, LEFT ON LINCOLN AVENUE, RIGHT ON CENTRE STREET, CONTINUE ON CENTRE TO LIBRARY.
  • MEMORIAL SERVICE AT WORLD WAR I MONUMENT AT LIBRARY.
  • RIGHT ON CONGRESS STREET, LEFT ONTO STATE STREET
  • MEMORIAL SERVICE AND SPEECHES AT BOROUGH HALL.
  • THE PARADE WILL CONTINUE ON STATE STREET, RIGHT ONTO CENTRE STREET, CONTINUE ONTO RICHBORO ROAD, RIGHT ON LINDEN AVENUE TO LEGION HOME.
  • VETERANS WILL HOLD A MEMORIAL SERVICE AND THEN HONOR THE COUNCIL ROCK NORTH BAND
