Newtown's Pickering Manor Gets Top Rating From Federal Agency

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services scores the healthcare facility five out of five.

A Newtown senior living and nursing home has recently earned top honors from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a branch of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

Pickering Manor earned a 5-star rating from the agency, the highest rating possible.

“We are so proud,” Executive Director at Pickering Manor Michelle Knobloch said in a press release. “Achieving this rating is a direct result of the hard work and dedication our staff gives to our residents and their families every day.”

According to a press release from Pickering Manor, the 5-star rating puts the facility in the top 10 percent of nursing homes nationwide.

The 5-star rating system was created to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily, the press release said.

Ratings are based on health inspections, staffing, and quality measures. A rating is provided for each of these three sources and an overall rating is reached by combining the three.

Pickering Manor is a non-profit facility located in Newtown Borough and offers senior living in the form of 10 semi-detached cottages, 24 apartments, 22 private personal care rooms and 47 licensed skilled nursing and rehabilitation beds.
